Get serious about your photography, and have fun doing it. A full day in Lisbon with one of the most energetic portrait photographers working today.
We'll start the day with active learning, using Lisbon's most photogenic streets as backdrops. You'll spend time on both sides of the lens, taking turns swapping roles from photographer to subject, so that you can better understand how to put subjects at ease and direct portrait shoots with confidence. We'll learn to read outdoor settings quickly and troubleshoot on the fly. Wear something colourful.
After lunch, we'll reconvene at Absent to review the morning's shots and get inside Will's editing process. Learn his tricks to build that signature high-saturation look and find your own voice through colour and composition.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants, so everyone gets 1:1 attention from Will and real feedback on their work.

Lunch break — solo or with the group
13:00 – 16:00
Afternoon session at Absent, Rua da Glória 78. Review the morning's shots and get inside Will's editing process: how he selects, sequences, and builds that signature high-saturation look.
What you'll learn
Direct with confidence
How to put a subject at ease quickly and keep the energy high. Will's ability to make anyone comfortable in front of a lens is what separates his work — you'll learn how he does it.
Read a location
How to walk into an unfamiliar setting and immediately see what it offers: light, colour, geometry. Lisbon is one of the best locations in Europe for this.
Build a practice
We'll review the morning's shots and discuss how to hone your unique, recognisable voice. How do you select? What gets cut, and why? The goal is building discipline and judgement that turns a style into a practice.
Colour-first editing
A walkthrough of Will's post-production workflow: how he selects, sequences, and processes images for that high-saturation, joyful look that defines his work.
What to Bring
- Your camera (any system)
- Something colourful to wear. You'll be in front of the lens too.
- Spare batteries and memory cards
- Comfortable shoes
Who Should Attend
This workshop is for anyone who wants to make more confident, expressive portraits, whether you shoot editorial, lifestyle, or personal work. You don't need commercial experience. If you're drawn to vivid, joyful, colour-led photography and want to understand how a working photographer builds a signature look from the street to the edit, this day is for you.
